HQ's inventory model will always accurately
reflect all the aspects of the various
machines, software, and services in your infrastructure. This allows
you to change and
expand your IT environment without
concerns about having to extend or adapt your management solution.
HQ's auto-discovery feature detects every aspect of your hardware
and software infrastructure -- from accurate memory, CPU, Disk and
network devices all the way to services deployed or configured on
all your installed software.
HQ's control engine allows you to perform any number of control
actions that are supported by the managed product. Control actions
vary by product, and can be performed on an on demand, grouped, or
scheduled basis.
Control capabilities are also restricted by HQ's role based access
control mechanism, allowing you to decide who gets to perform
control actions on which resources in your infrastructure.
HQ's powerful monitoring engine collects metrics from every aspect
of your inventory. The metrics are based on the ones exposed by
the products themselves allowing you to safely deploy HQ to monitor
production environments without need for invasive instrumentation.
Metrics are also continously baselined, giving HQ and you the
ability to quickly identify problems before they become more severe.
HQ's powerful monitoring UI allows you to compare metrics for
different resources across a common timeline in multiple, user
configured views. These views give you a deeper understanding
of the relationships between the different resources in your infrastructure
and help you quickly identify the root cause of problems.
HQ's integrated alerting engine allows you to define anything
from simple to elaborate conditions which should be treated as
alerts. Alerting is done in a product independent way, allowing
you to have the same degree of notification capabilities for everything
from OS level faults to service level response times.
HQ's alerting engine is also fully integrated into the HQ server
such that alerts can both respond to control actions performed
through HQ, as well as perform control actions in response to
other conditions. This capability allows you to define policies
for correcting known problems without requiring intervention and
with the knowledge that they will be logged and tracked in HQ's
repository.
